Why Ask A Personal Trainer And Not A Doctor About Exercise

April 4th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Fitness
Scott White asked:

You wouldn’t ask your hairstylist to diagnose a mechanical problem on your car would you? Of course not, unless they’re also a certified mechanic on the side. Why then ask your doctor about exercise when his or her line of work is in the diagnosing and treating of diseases and sickness? To be sure, doctors are becoming more and more aware of the benefits of exercise in helping their patients to improve their health outlook. But they must spend their very limited time between treating patients and keeping themselves abreast of new developments in medicines and treatments that help patients fight disease. They don’t have the time to invest in learning about the mechanics of exercise. Doesn’t it make more sense that the ideal candidate for an in-depth discussion on exercise and how it can benefit your health would be a personal trainer?

A personal fitness trainer has spent an extensive amount of time learning all about exercise. How different exercises are done, how to target specific areas of the body with exercise, how to avoid injuries, the structures of the body and how they work, how exercise can help the body to work more efficiently, the physiological connection between the body and mind for complete health and more.

A personal trainer carries certifications that they have achieved and can demonstrate a high-level of understanding about the various aspects of exercise and what exercise can mean to a person’s overall health.

A personal fitness trainer has the expertise to guide you through the proper “mechanics” of various forms of exercise, to not only lessen your risk of becoming injured, but to increase the benefits to be gained from exercise when done correctly. They also have insight gained from working with different people from which to draw upon to help you in getting past any stumbling blocks that are keeping you from maximizing your health.

Fitness trainers are also knowledgeable about the physical limitations of some conditions and can tailor exercises to those limitations, so that health gains are still possible. Despite the marine-toughness seen portrayed by a personal trainer on reality-based television shows, not all personal trainers “bark” out orders to get you to exercise. Personal trainers can be quite empathetic to the plight of the overweight person who hasn’t exercised in a long while, and who has finally decided to get their weight under control and improve their health. A personal trainer will work with you to reach higher levels of fitness without shaming you for whatever level you start from.

Doctors keep themselves informed about the latest research and developments in the treating of disease and illness, personal trainers keep themselves informed about the latest trends in the exercise and exercise materials recommended for attaining fitness and health. A personal trainer can warn you about the newest fads appearing on the exercise scene with a lot of fanfare and empty promises before you endanger your health by trying to follow them.

A personal trainer gives you the one-on-one instruction and attention that most of us need to take charge of the wheel as we drive towards great and permanent health. The expert knowledge and guidance that a personal trainer adds to your exercise workouts is invaluable. You can achieve more benefits from the time you spend on exercising and working towards your goals of health and fitness from a personal trainer, than just about anyone else.

If you have a bad case of the flu, a broken bone, or a medical concern, seek treatment from your doctor. If you have a question about what the best exercise routines are for the maximizing of your health and fitness, consult a personal trainer.

Cleaning to Reduce Dust and Allergens

April 4th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized
Daniel asked:

As the owner of a cleaning service and a sufferer of seasonal allergies I am often asked: “What is the best way to clean your House   or Office  to reduce airborne irritants?” For serious sufferers of seasonal allergies the best answer is to not think of cleaning as a onetime event but an ongoing process. The first step in that process is prevention. Once preventive practices are put firmly into place you can move onto reducing the dust and allergens.

When it comes to keeping a home or office clean the most time effective strategy to control the amount of dust and allergens in the air is prevention. The easiest and probably most effective method is the use of walk off mats. Walk off mats allows anyone entering your home or office to walk of the outdoor dust and grim before tracking it into your facility. When shopping for walk off mats which are available at janitorial supply stores, wholesale clubs and even home décor stores be shore to choose a mat that is long enough to someone entering to step on with both feet. The mats do an excellent job or preventing dirt from getting into your facility where it would be much more difficult to remove. Once a week vacuum or shake out the rug to remove any loose dirt so that it can continue to do its job of keeping your facility clean.

Another often overlooked preventive measure is the regular cleaning of your HVAC filters. It is easy to forget about them but they all the air in your home or office routinely circulates through them. To clean a filter you must first remove it from the system inspect it for damages than using a slightly damp (not moisture) cloth and remove the excess dust.  If you want to keep the amount of airborne allergens and dust to a minimum be sure to clean your filters at least monthly and consider changing them every six months to a year.

Now that you are helping to control the amount of dust and irritants that enter your home or office what can you do eliminate what is already there as well keep it control it in the future. A regular cleaning program will do much more for both your health and peace of mind than occasional all out blitzes. The first step in that program is the regular dusting of your space. To keep airborne irritants low and depending on the home, building or office you may need to dust anywhere from daily to once every two weeks.

Cleaning dust can be one of the most difficult cleaning jobs especially for someone who suffers from seasonal allergies. However a few tips can have you on your way to a much cleaning home or space without much irritation.

The first thing to consider is your own health. If you are already bothered by the amount of dust in your home or office than cleaning it is only going to make it worse. Cleaning even with the best techniques is going to at least temporally stir up the dust and that can irritate your sinus. Before you tackle this task on a particularly dusty area I would strongly recommend the use of a mask to reduce the amount of dust you inhale.

Now that you are ready to dust you have your choice of two choices of dusting methods. The easier and simplest method is feather dusting. Feather dusting is effective at dusting hard to reach places but can be ineffective against higher dust areas. For the best results use a slightly damp microfiber towel. Microfiber is more absorbent than terry or cotton towels which help to reduce the amount of dust in the air.

Once you have selected your dusting method hand wipe all surfaces starting with the ceiling fans and light fixtures than work your way down and around the room in a clockwise direction this way you will not knock dust onto anything you have already dusted and it will be harder to miss anything. Once you have finished dusting the light fixtures and ceiling fans, start dusting wall art, furniture and other items around the room. Make sure that you pick up and replace each and every individual item. If you are using microfiber towels you’ll want to keep a supply handy and replace them often as they become soiled.

Once the dusting is complete move on to vacuuming. Many people overlook vacuuming but vacuuming is the probably the number one factor in reducing allergens and dust in your home or office. When vacuuming use a strong vacuum to remove a deep down dust. The best measurement of a vacuum’s strength is cfs the higher the number the better. If you can afford it choice a model that is equipped with a HEPA filter to make sure all the small particles are filtered out of the air instead of spread around the room.

Start vacuuming from the furthest corner and do so in a w pattern making sure you get every inch of the carpet as you leave the room. If indoor air quality is a major concern you should really consider vacuuming daily some smaller homes and office however can get by fine with weekly vacuuming.

In conclusion improving indoor air quality through cleaning for allergy suffers is a simple matter. First prevent as much dust and dirt from entering your home or office with walk off mats, regular clean your walk off mats, dust regularly preferable with a hand towel and vacuum as much as is reasonable if you follow  these few simple steps and you can be on your way to enjoying a cleaner and healthier environment.

Hi, recently i’ve been trying to get into shape. Ive been trying different exercise routines, and didnt like any of them, until i decided to give a shot at a women’s aerobics video. I really enjoyed the workout and felt energized and have been doing a lot of it, high impact women’s aerobics. The only thing is im now interested in buying the right clothing. I dont really care for mens sports apparel, and i also want to feel like im wearing the clothes that fit into the workout im doing (it is women’s aerobics after all). I like the look of the clothes too. Are there any women out there who could point me in the right direction as to wear to buy these clothes. What are some of my options? what fabrics are good? what about shoes? what brands are best and what style of clothes are best. also would there be negative impacts of me wearing these clothes (yes i do live alone so no one would see me.) thanks for your help

Marketing For Your Fitness Personal Training Business

April 4th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Fitness
Chris Chew asked:

How many fitness personal trainers do you know who have a bulging tummy, flabby butt, a little arm muscles with scanty knowledge and skills required of a professional fitness personal trainer and yet they are very successful personal trainers? Some of these fitness trainers probably do not even have a qualified personal trainer certification not to say a string of qualifications. I am sure that you have met a few of them if you are in the personal training industry. Why do people trust these trainers who are out of shape and non certified personal trainers?

Now, take a good look at yourself in the mirror. You are a graduate of several renowned fitness personal training institutions with a string of recognized certifications. You are a strapping handsome hunk with well toned beautiful muscles on all the right places with an almost a perfect body fat ratio but your fitness personal trainer business is falling far behind others who are not as well qualified or look as good as you. Why is that so?

Well, the answer to that question is that they know what marketing is all about and you do not. It is as simple as that. You see, even if you have wonderful products and services but nobody knows about it or is convinced enough to buy them, then you will have zero sales. That is a fact of the business world. The same principle is also applicable to your personal training business.

Big businesses spend thousands and millions of advertising dollars in marketing their products and services knowing it will bring in the clients and profits many more times than what they spent marketing and advertising. Well, you do not need have to spend that kind of money in your personal trainer business but by just having the knowledge on how to market yourself and then turn that knowledge into action should be you a steady influx of clients.

Your prospective clients really do not know how good you are or how qualified you are, so how are they to know that you can really help them achieve their health and fitness objectives? You may be very highly qualified, but to that fat guy out there, he really does not know the difference between one fitness personal trainer qualification from another. So how are you going to get that fat prospective client to conclude that you are right personal trainer that they are looking for?

So, go get some marketing training for yourself and read up books on sales and marketing techniques especially those written for self employed professions such as like real estate sales or insurance sales techniques then redesign the sales and marketing techniques to suit your fitness personal trainer industry.

Want to Get in Shape Fast, You Need a Personal Trainer

Zach Hunt asked:

many advantages of hiring a personal trainer that is independent of any big fitness club.

Fitness Clubs are a business and not as interested in getting you into shape like an independent fitness trainer is.

The following list is some of the important advantages that a personal fitness trainer will have over the big chain fitness places.

You receive a more “hands-on” experience with your trainer

You will usually have to pay less.

Each fitness routine is based on the individual.

You won’t be forced into paying a membership fee.

You will be encouraged to succeed by an independent trainer.

If you want a hands-on approach to reaching your fitness goals, hire a personal trainer.

A personal training working the solo route will be more willing to spend that extra time to guide you through the entire process of getting into shape.

Paying Less For Your Personal Trainer

Many commercial fitness centers charge you a large sum of cash to gain access to their center. Additionally, they charge additional money in order for you to use certain services that they offer as optional.

By hiring one of the personal trainers that aren’t being employed by a branch of a commercial gym franchise, you will pay less money for a more quality service.

Unique Personal Training Fitness Routines

Normal fitness centers often encourage all of their clients to do the exact or similar fitness routine. Everyone is different, not every routine will work. One of the many quality independent personal trainers will create a fitness routine that is crafted to fit your unique lifestyle.

No Gym Membership Fees For Personal Training

Commercial personal training franchises often charge expensive membership fees each month. Regardless of if you use their service, they still charge you the same.

With an independent fitness trainer, you only pay when you want their services, not just for the facility.

Independent Personal Trainers Encourage You To Succeed

Huge fitness centers make profits because a majority of their members fail at their fitness goals. They continue to use the fitness center in an attempt to complete their goals but they have no chance at doing so due to the fact that the fitness center has no interest in seeing their client succeed and no longer needing their service.

Hiring one of the local personal trainers will prevent this issue as they will only be paid while you are using their service. Additionally, many of these local personal trainers provide refunds if you are not happy with your results.

What You Should Do Now…

If you are smart, you will trust your fitness needs with one of the local personal trainers instead of placing your trust in a corporation that wishes to do nothing more than to make money off of your fitness failures.

Better fitness awaits you - get a personal trainer and start today
